Short version. Bop collects nothing, and your recordings never leave your Mac.
No personal data
Bop doesn't collect, store or share personal data. There's no account to create and nothing to sign in to.
No analytics or tracking
The app has no analytics, tracking or advertising code. This website doesn't use tracking scripts or cookies either.
Your recordings stay on your Mac
Bop processes and saves recordings only on your Mac, in the folder you pick. It never sends them anywhere. If you share a GIF, you do that yourself, in the app you drop it into.
While you review a recording, Bop keeps temporary working files in its private app folder on your Mac. It deletes them when you save, discard or quit. When you copy or drag a GIF out, Bop keeps a copy in its cache for a short time so the other app can read it, and removes it within a day.
No audio
Bop doesn't record audio and doesn't ask for microphone access.
Screen Recording permission
macOS asks you to give Bop Screen Recording permission. Bop uses it to capture the area you select, only while you're recording. You can turn it off any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
Settings on your Mac
Bop saves four preferences on your Mac: whether to show the cursor, whether Esc stops recording, your keyboard shortcut, and the last folder you saved to. Bop never sends them anywhere. Deleting the app removes them.
The App Store and this website
If you download Bop from the Mac App Store, Apple handles the purchase and download under Apple's privacy policy. We don't receive any of your personal information from Apple. Cloudflare hosts this website and may process basic technical data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect it. We don't use that data to identify or track you.
Children
Because Bop collects no data at all, it collects none from children either.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
