Bop asks for Screen Recording permission
macOS needs your OK before any app can capture the screen. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, turn on Bop, then quit and reopen Bop. Bop captures only the area you select, and only while you're recording.
Starting a recording
Click the Bop icon in the menu bar, or press ⌃⌘G. Drag a box around what you want to show, then click Record or press Space or Return.
Stopping a recording
Press Esc or ⌃⌘G again, click the menu bar icon, or hit stop in the floating pill.
Changing the keyboard shortcut
Right-click the Bop icon in the menu bar and choose Keyboard Shortcut. Do this if ⌃⌘G clashes with another app.
Making a GIF smaller
Before you save, trim the start and end, pick a smaller size or pick a lower frame rate. Sizes go from 100% down to 25%, and frame rates are 30, 24, 15 or 10 fps. The file size estimate updates as you go.
Where GIFs go
Save to any folder, and Bop remembers the last one you used. You can also copy the GIF, or drag it into Slack, Finder, Mail or any app that accepts images.
